Every quilt needs a binding and Diana has more than one creative solution for those unfinished edges. In this “soup to nuts” class you will learn basic binding right on up to the most elegant finishes. There are rounded corners, scalloped edges, mitered corners and more. This is definitely the icing on the cake. |

Piecing: An Introduction

Paper piecing is a technique similar to foundation piecing. It allows for accurate piecing of difficult blocks and/or challenging fabrics. Learn stitch placement, beginning and ending seams, and the do’s and don’ts to avoid common mistakes. You will make several basic blocks in class and leave with the confidence to tackle more. |

This class covers basic skills of machine quilting. The morning session focuses on machine guided quilting using the walking foot. Techniques include starting and stopping, cross hatching, stitch in the ditch, diamond grid and gentle curves. After lunch, it’s feed dogs down and free motion quilting. Learn to stop and start, control stitch length and machine speed, and try different patterns including stippling, stars, circles, and waves. Then it’s home to practice, practice, practice. You’ll be amazed at how much you learn in this class. |

This quilted bouquet will never needs watering. Marge will pass on Laura Farson’s techniques for cutting and piecing so you can be sewing before you know it. A little like cathedral windows, this formerly complicated method of curved piecing is no longer intimating. All you need is your rotary cutter, ruler, sewing machine and Marge. |
